Hello and welcome to WeShiba! My name is Peter Wedel, and
we are proudly located in Cartwright, MB, Canada. Since 2018, we have
been devoted to breeding Shiba Inus and truly cherish every moment spent
with our dogs.
Shiba Inus are extraordinary companions—they love to play, always seem
to have a smile on their face, and are wonderful with children. At
WeShiba, the whole family is actively involved in caring for the dogs,
ensuring they receive the best attention and love possible.
The health and happiness of our dogs is our top priority. We firmly
believe that happy, well-cared-for Shibas produce healthy, well-adjusted
puppies. While our dogs are part of our breeding program, they are also
cherished family members. We enjoy playful moments with them daily, and
our family loves sharing stories about their antics and adorable
behavior.
At WeShiba, we are passionate about raising Shibas that are not only
healthy and happy but also full of personality, joy, and love.
Before deciding on a Shiba Inu, it’s important to know both the wonderful traits and the challenges of this unique breed. Here’s a balanced overview:
Facts
Height: 33–41 cm (females slightly smaller, males slightly larger)
Weight: 7–11 kg
Life Expectancy: 12–16 years
Behavior and Personality
Shiba Inus are intelligent and independent dogs. Their intelligence
makes training relatively easy, but it also means they sometimes like to
make their own decisions. For example, a Shiba might choose not to “sit”
if it’s wet outside or if they’re not in the mood—but this doesn’t mean
they are disobedient; they are simply strong-willed. With consistent,
patient training, Shibas quickly learn commands and boundaries.
Shibas are incredibly loyal and affectionate. They generally love children and enjoy family life, making them excellent family companions. They thrive on attention and enjoy being part of daily activities.
One trait to keep in mind is their strong prey drive and tendency to explore. Some Shibas may try to run off if not accustomed to being off-leash. Starting leash and off-leash training early helps ensure they can safely enjoy freedom outdoors.
Overall, Shiba Inus are fun, loving, and full of personality. They bring joy, laughter, and energy to any household, while also sometimes showing a stubborn streak that makes them truly unique. With the right care and attention, they make loyal, happy, and entertaining family members.
